Derek Bell spent 24 years in the Regular Army followed by 4 years in a windowless office in suburban General Practice.  He then took the love of his life and his small kids on a road trip in a Kombi called Isabelle to find a country town to call home.  They fell in love with Bellingen on the Mid North Coast of NSW, moved there and never looked back.  He now job shares with his wife Olivia as a GP VMO on the wards and in ED at their local rural hospital.  He has an enviable work life balance and is a strong advocate for rural hospital work.  Yes, his wife wrote this bio.
