Lauren Kennedy
FACEM - Limestone Coast Lhn
Professional Bio
Lauren's first rural medicine experience was as a first year medical student when a relative needed emergency care while in a rural area. Seeing the doctor manage the assessment – including taking their own x-rays – and treatment from start to finish demonstrated the generalist skill set required for successful rural practice. From there, her interest and passion for rural medicine grew throughout her studies, into emergency medicine training and beyond to her current membership with ACEM’s Regional, Rural and Remote committee. She is a passionate educator with a special interest in simulation and gamification. These interests have intersected in her current work into rural STEMI management.
Lauren is now DEMT in Mount Gambier in South Australia – half way between Melbourne and Adelaide. When not at work Lauren is spending time with her family including two young children on their property where they keep alpacas, ducks and various types of chickens.
