Keynote Speaker
Professional Bio
Dr. Fleet, MD, PhD, MMGt (IMHL- McGill), is an emergency physician, clinical health psychologist, patient advocate and influential figure in rural emergency medicine research. As a Full Professor at Université Laval in Québec City, Canada, his work has been instrumental in highlighting the disparities in emergency care accessibility across Canada, particularly focusing on the crucial differences between rural and urban areas.
Dr. Fleet’s research has resonated globally, inspiring The 7 Fingers, a renowned circus troupe from Montreal, to create an award-winning show/movie that encapsulates his decade of rural research. This unique approach serves as a powerful medium to raise awareness and engage stakeholders in the critical issue of limited access to care in rural communities.
In 2020, Dr. Fleet and his team began the Living Lab Charlevoix rural hospital project. This initiative focuses on collaboratively developing and applying practical, user-centric solutions to improve healthcare delivery. By working with one small hospital at a time, the project contributes to the broader goal of enhancing rural healthcare.
