Rebecca Day
Royal Darwin Hospital
About Rebecca
Becky is Acting Deputy Director of Emergency Medicine at Royal Darwin Hospital in the Top End.
After tinkering half-heartedly with the thought of Surgical, ICU and then Anaesthetics training in the UK, she finally found her way to her passion of Emergency Medicine. She arrived in Australia as a somewhat over-enthusiastic and under-skilled new registrar at the North Shore of Sydney in 2007, and has never looked back. She moved to Darwin for ‘something different’ in 2014, and certainly found something special in The Tropics.
She has worked at Gove and Katherine hospitals for short stints and did remote locum work in various far-flung bits of NSW.
Although now a fully-fledged Aussie, she originally hails from the Northeast of England. She has an odd accent, an odder sense of humour and has been described as ‘a pocket rocket’ on more than one occasion! She sometimes moves so fast that she makes her colleagues dizzy.
Her loves outside of work include F45, pilates, travel, wine, her garden, solo-hiking and various short lived and ever changing creative pursuits.

She recently found her arty-farty side and (accidentally!) signed up for Visual Arts Degree at CDU. She can be found on most days off in a little studio, happily making a mess that occasionally passes off as Art!
She has no children of her own, but step-parents a 12 year old particularly clunkily and is currently raising a naughty Bush Stone Curlew called Jeremy.
